Mubasher: Qatar’s industrial production index (IPI) declined 2.6% year-on-year to 108.8 points in September, the Ministry of Development Planning and Statistics (MDPS) said in a statement released on Wednesday.
The manufacturing index of the world’s biggest liquefied natural gas (LNG) exporter consists of three main components, namely mining represents 83.6%, while manufacturing, electricity, and water account for 15.2%, 0.7%, and 0.5%, respectively.
The statement attributed the IPI fall to a decrease in the mining segment by 3.6%, the ministry's data showed.
Meanwhile, the manufacturing segment rose 2.9% year-on-year due to the growth of six subgroups headed by drinks, while food and oil products went down by 2.1% and 2.6%, respectively.
On a monthly basis, Qatar’s IPI retreated 1.4% in September, compared to 110.4 points in August.
